After starting the business in 1970 as an owner driver, Huw is using his 40 years’ experience to guide the strategic business development and commercial management of the Group. He has led the company though positive changes, whilst driving it forward, resulting in Owens being on a strong commercial footing in its 48th year. Thanks to his foresight and sheer determination, the company continues to grow and evolve within an extremely challenging economic time.

Commercial director

After joining his brother in the business shortly after it started, Eurof took role of Commercial Director which has seen him develop and implement business and market development strategies, whilst identifying new opportunities and client relationships. Crucial to this role too is the ability to create business proposals and ultimately winning bids. Along with Huw, the brother’s remain at the helm of the business, and are actively working to ensure strategic growth of the Group.







     
Ian Owen

Ian Owen

Operations director

Ian joined his father and uncle within Owens Group in 1990 as a traffic planner. He had a natural ability in dealing with vehicle and driving planning, and now holds the title of Operations Director where he leads the traffic control, workshop, steel and pallet network departments, through the ever growing customer base. With his strong work and growth ethics, Ian continues to look for new opportunities for the Group, maximising our portfolio within our industry in the UK.

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Huw respectfully joined the business in 2017 as senior executive, with ultimate responsibility for the financial affairs of the Group. He is a leader in his field, with good knowledge of the transport industry. Huw, along with his teams, have led the business though some challenging economic conditions, but always with the ability to invest wisely, ensuring strategic growth and investments into new projects on the horizon.

Finance Director

With a successful career in the manufacturing industry, Alison joined the business in 2013, where thanks to her motivations and professionalism, she is now the Finance Director. Alison actively works closely with her teams, ensuring good financial health, whilst establishing key financial strategies, for the profitable long term growth of the Group.

GROUP OPERATIONS MANAGER

After joining the family business in 2000, immediately after leaving school, Emyr has grown from strength to strength in his abilities and now holds the role of Group Operations Manager. He has a proactive and hands on approach, overseeing all aspects of the Owens Group’s transport operations across all depots. Emyr is also key to the success of many Blue Chip customer success and growth within the Group, ensuring that the components needed to achieve this are all in place and utilised to their optimum, delivering excellence in performance and service.

OPERATIONS MANAGER

Much alike his peers, Darren joined the family business as a school leaver back in 1994, joining the team of traffic planners. As years passed by and depots evolve, Darren made the move to Bridgend as their Operations Manager, a depot with a large passing of freight though our Palletforce network. With his knowledge in the field of transport, acquired through years of working within the business, Darren has now transferred his skills and been able to help grow the business through developing two depots East of our HQ – one of which that looks solely after our Steel sector.





ROBERT WILLIAMS

GROUP COMPANY SECRETARY

Robert joined the business back in 1988, initially as a company accountant, then group accountant and more latterly taking on the role of Group Company Secretary. As the business has grown, his role has evolved to encompass HR, legal, contractual and commercial matters, whilst continuing to oversee the financial management of the Group.

With a successful track record in customer service and operational management, Doug joined Owens Group in 2018, where he brought with him proven skills in presenting, negotiating and building relationships at all levels within Blue Chip companies across the UK. Doug’s consultative approach based on facts ensures that we continue to build strong and sound strategic relationships that deliver long term customer commitment and business growth.







BARRY EVANS

BARRY EVANS

BUSINESS SERVICE MANAGER

With over 35 years’ experience in his field, Barry joined the team in 2009 and is responsible for the company’s procurement and facilities management across all depots, whilst also looking after some key accounts. Barry also heads up the company’s warehousing sector, circa 1 million sq ft and all of its associated customers.

GROUP FLEET MANAGER

Andy joined the team in 2017 as Group Fleet Manager, taking charge of all aspects of maintenance and safety compliance of our vehicles on the road. With his experience in fleet management within the logistics and supply chain industries, Andy has broad knowledge and understanding that vehicle maintenance turnaround needs to be swift and conscience, whilst maintaining safety compliance within the remit of the law.

HEAD OF I.T.

Having spent over 20 years in complex I.T. environments and industries, Ajmal joined the business in 2014 as the head of I.T. Ajmal ensures smooth I.T operations at Owens Group, whilst giving Owens the ability to integrate systems between our business and customers, ensuring optimum efficiency and productivity. His dynamic team are consistently looking at new innovations, keeping us at the forefront of I.T. developments.







     
SUE COLLYER

Sue Collyer

HR Manager

With over 20 years in the automotive industry, Sue brought a wealth of experience along to Owens Group where she joined as HR Manager in 2012. Sue predominately oversees the recruiting, interviewing and hiring of staff, whilst also consulting with the executives within the business about strategic planning. She has since developed a very dynamic and prompt HR department, who serve as a link between management and employees, whilst coordinating the administrative functions of the organisation.
